Pesto-Chicken-for-CRAOver the past few weeks Sandra Dugan has volunteered and participated in two hospitality industry events. The events were the Colorado Restaurant Association’s Drink Red Wear Red event and the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association’s Delightful Dishes and Dreamy Getaways event. The CRA helped to raise funds for the Colorado’s Pro-Start Program, Project Angel Heart and the Hardship fund for the Mile High chapter of the Colorado Restaurant association. The CHLA event helped raise funds for the Volunteers of America and the CHLA readiness Fund.

For both events, Sandra worked with Johnson & Wales students to prepare and serve food to guests. The students were given the opportunity to work with the organizations to help the events to be huge successes. Sandra will also be taking a group of students at the end of March to Las Vegas to work with the Nightclub and Bar Conference where students will be working with the sales team, the marketing team and culinary and beverage experts to help run the large trade show and conference.

Filling-Children's-Backbacks-at-Food-BankIn addition to these events Sandra also works with her Restaurant, Food and Beverage students each year to volunteer at the Food Bank of the Rockies. Sandra feels that it is necessary for Restaurant students to learn the importance of giving back to their communities. Year after year students walk away from their experiences feeling better about themselves and understanding the important roles that they have in making sure that everyone has the opportunity to eat.
